European Funds for Lower Silesia, Republic of Poland, Co-funded by the European Union, Lower Silesia

Funding source: Project co-funded by the European Union from the ERDF under the programme “European Funds for Lower Silesia 2021–2027” (Fundusze Europejskie dla Dolnego Śląska 2021–2027).

Innovative cooling system using waste heat from plastic processing lines

C-TECH Sp. z o.o. has received European Union funding for the project “Innovative cooling system using waste heat from plastic processing lines”.

Beneficiary:
C-TECH Sp. z o.o.

Project scope

  • Development of a laboratory version of the prototype (industrial research).
  • Development of the final prototype (experimental development).
  • Raising staff competences in the commercialisation of R&D results and the protection of industrial property.
Target groups:
plastics processors, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Rationale and need

The project addresses the challenges faced by plastics processors (especially SMEs) as a result of rising production costs and regulatory requirements for environmentally friendly solutions.

Project goal

Development of a prototype of an innovative cooling system using waste heat – at TRL 9, enabling the solution to be brought to market.

Results and technology

The outcome will be a prototype of a low-energy, innovative cooling system. The technology will use:

  • Two-phase heat exchangers with a dedicated channel structure and innovative materials.
  • A sorption rotor for low-energy cooling production.
  • A target temperature of 12°C in line with the ASHRAE 134-2017 standard, and higher efficiency than current devices.
